Aged in new French oak barrels. Totally opaque dark red black colour with a dark red hue. The nose picks up aromas of aniseed and blackberry followed by scorched earth, vanillin cedar and peppered leather notes. The cooler vintage conditions lend more elegance to this release with liquorice and plum fruits leading the way over a back drop of earthy vanillin cedar, leather and peppered dried herb characters. Polished tannins concluding with good length. A commendable effort from what is universally considered a difficult vintage.
