A blend of 80% Shiraz and 20% Grenache that has been sourced from 60-80 year old vines. Maturation took place in 2-3 year old Hogsheads of which 80% were French and 20% American oak. Totally opaque black dark red colour with deep dark crimson red hue. The nose shows good perfumed lift with aromas of blackberry, liquorice and confectionary followed by a touch of vanilla and some spicy end notes. Full bodied, rich and generous the palate delivers mouthfilling flavours of ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice followed by some confectionary and a spicy back palate. Fleshy mouthfeel with very fine grained velvet like tannins. Excellent power with long aftertaste of ripe blackberry, dark plum, liquorice and spice.
Cellar 4-5 years (2016-2017).
