2010 Douglas Laing & Co. Old Particular Single Cask Teaninich 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
A working distillery whose spirit is almost entirely destined for blends. Uncommon, but the indies offer some from time to time: Teaninich is typically for fruity Highland malt lovers, however this bottling is more intriguing than most in that there are references to a light smokiness in the tasting notes. Fascinating. 373 bottles were decanted from a refill hogshead. 48.4% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... Wow, this is a lovely Teaninich! I'm fond of this profile. The juicy is honest and very light in colour, yet at the same time soft and well matured in character...The light smoke is at the front now, accompanied by sweet liquorice, apples, citrus fruits and sugared almonds. The 'industrial touch' that I love so much with Teaninich also develops (metallic and coal dust?). - whiskybase.com
Notes from the bottlers... NOSE: Wonderfully barley sugared as it opens, with a mix of milky oats and honey. PALATE: Amongst all its sweetness, catch liquorice and a little trace of wafting smoke. FINISH: Sense a tiny hint of soot before toffee, then a late night warm malted drink.
