2010 Buller Wines Calliope Shiraz

Aged in American oak hogsheads for 2 years. Opaque black dark red colour with a very dark red hue. Liqueur like aromas of ripe blackberries, black cherries and liquorice are followed by toasty vanillin oak and spice. Rich, very ripe, almost Port like flavours of black cherries, black plums and liquorice dominate the palate with underlying vanillin oak and spice. It’s not as weighty or densely textured as previous vintages. Solidly built yet relatively fine grained tannins. Long aftertaste of ripe black cherries, black plums, liquorice and toasty vanillin oak.
Cellar 5-6 years.
