New Zealand’s newest wine region, the Waitaki Valley straddles the boundary between the North Otago and Canterbury provinces. The area was first planted in 2001 and the vineyards are mostly small, intensively managed and produce a range of distinctive cool climate wines.

Deep, dark crimson red colour showing very good depth with dark, crimson red hue. The nose is very perfumed showing excellent intensity and varietal character with top notes of dark cherries and dark plum followed by a touch of anise, cedar and spice. Medium bodied, the palate possesses excellent weight, richness and power with generous, mouthfilling flavours of dark cherries, anise and dark plum followed by some toasty cedar and a spicy back palate. Excellent power wave. Super fine grained tannins with long aftertaste of dark cherries, plum, toasty cedar and spice.
Drink over the next 4-5 years (2011-2016)
