2008 Douglas Laing & Co. Old Particular Single Cask Aberlour 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Many entry-level bottlings from this distillery can feel a bit mild to seasoned drinkers, so higher ABV Aberlours are always welcome. We're not quite at A'bunadh strengths, but we're getting close! As with the A'bunadh Alba, maturation in ex-bourbon barrels should bring a different side to the profile (fruitier notes like apples, honey and vanilla), as opposed to the more typical, sherry influenced flavours. 319 bottles were drawn from a refill hogshead. 48.4% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Barley and soft spices give way to moreish caramel and vanilla richness. Palate: Thick and creamy with buttery biscuits, charred oak, candied peel and pastry. Finish: Lingers with much of what has gone before plus apricot conserve and butterscotch.
