The Clare Valley is amongst Australia’s best Riesling districts, constantly delivering wines of great depth and flavour such as this intense, aromatic example. Riesling has an ability to age gracefully, gathering both power and complexity in the process. In the best examples, whilst the crisp acid zing generally remains, tertiary flavours (those which come from time in bottle) begin to come to the fore. In Riesling, these are often described as 'honey & toast' over lime juice. In extreme cases, Riesling takes on a 'kerosene' like aroma and flavour, which may sound a little odd at first, but is in fact quite sought after.

This wine is ageing superbly.

Retasted 10/06/2009:Brilliant pale straw colour with pale straw hue. Superb lifted nose, with top note of orange blossom, followed by mandarin and rose petal with nuances of lime, honey and tropical fruit. The honey toast tertiary flavours are beginning to emerge, followed by lime, confectionary and spice. Long aftertaste of lime, confectionary and honey.
