2004 Happs P.F. White PRESERVATIVE FREE Chardonnay

Australian winemakers are at the forefront of winemaking technology in producing clean, attractive, fruity wines which, in this case are also preservative free. ERL HAPP of Happs Vineyard comments, “The most important contributing element to this phenomenon is well ripened grapes and the use of non chemical options to maintain the health of the wine prior to bottling – such as minimal handling, refrigeration, inert gas and filtration. In the case of the P.F red and white, we make a wine so carefully that it requires no sulphur at all.” This is an excellent example. Bright straw colour with pale straw hue. Aroma of peach and cashew, followed by a hint of melon, showing good varietal character. Mouthfilling creamy palate – quite unexpected, with generous flavours of peach, melon and fig. Excellent balance. Clean acid finish. Long aftertaste of melon, fig, tropical fruit and spice.
