2002 Nicholson River Winery Semillon Sauvignon Blanc

This style is unexpected, and can only be likened to the dry Sauternes of France. The blend is composed of 80% Semillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc. Brilliant pale gold colour with straw hue. The nose is delicate, with aroma of spice and honey emerging, followed by a touch of tropical fruit. There is a faint hint of grassiness evident, but it plays no important role in the wine’s character. The palate is mouthfilling, with flavours of honey and spice emerging followed by a very spicy back palate. Generous, creamy texture, dry flavours, but with fully ripened fruit. Clean acid finish, followed by a long spicy honeycomb aftertaste.
