2002 Douglas Laing & Co. Old Particular Single Cask Girvan 20 Year Old Cask Strength Single Grain Scotch Whisky (700ml) – 62.2%

This is the second of two super-value 20 year old Girvans that form part of a direct import shipment. Both were distilled in 2002 and drawn from hogsheads. The ABV on this bottling (cask DL15984) is considerably higher than most grains of this age. However, the outturn was almost 100 bottles less (190 compared to 282). With their gifts differing, the two bottlings promise an interesting side-by-side tasting. 62.2% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Opens cleanly with a suggestion of pineapple - certainly fruity with crushed sugars. Palate: Vanilla is immediately obvious plus caramel, melted chocolate and tingling spices. Finish: Those spices are now distinct and warming, with later buttercream and toffee.
