"The 2001 Wedgetail Estate Chardonnay retains a deal of finesse and refinement with similarities to the Chardonnay from Mount Mary."
A sophisticated wine, quite dry in style with no sign of the very obvious butterscotch characteristics that are evident in many barrel fermented wines. Bright golden colour showing oxidative handling. Aroma of yeast lees, cashews and biscuit. On the palate the biscuit and cashew flavours are over overlaid by a touch of citrus and yeast lees. Complex, clean, with excellent acid balance and a very long aftertaste of honeycombe, spice and yeast lees.
