2001 Farr Rising Geelong Pinot Noir

This is the Geelong version of Nick Farr’s Pinot and is quite distinct from the Mornington Peninsula example. Although both wines are of similar weight and colour, the Geelong Pinot has no earthy characteristics and is driven more by primary fruit flavours. Crimson red colour, with mauve hue. Medium body. Lifted nose, showing excellent varietal character. Top notes of cherry, spice and raspberry emerge. The palate continues to display strong varietal character with the cherry and spice flavours being dominant, followed by a hint of aniseed on the backpalate. Velvet smooth tannins followed by a very long spice, cherry aftertaste.
