An outstanding Cullen, paying tribute to the late Di Madeline, co-founder of the Cullen Vineyard. The wine has been made from a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. The wines have been matured for 18 months in barriques, of which 40% were new. This is a magnificent cellaring potential cellaring proposition. Totally opaque black purple colour. Although still youthful, the nose reveals superb notes of violets, blackcurrant, spice, cedar and truffle. The palate structure is formidable with its Classic Bordeaux inspired Cabernet tannic backbone. Explosive flavours with a heavy sprinkling of white pepper, blackcurrant and cedar. The tannins are dry, yet superfine and balanced to the powerful fruit component. Outstanding length with an exceptionally long aftertaste of spice, blackcurrant, liquorice and white pepper.
Cellar 10-15 years (2013-2018)
Alc/Vol: 14.0%
RATING: 99/100

Other reviews... Its sheer class shines through the trappings of extreme youth, a controlled explosion of blackcurrant, spice and blackberry, ripe tannins and French oak. Tasted 2003.
