1999 Peter Lehmann Shiraz

Rubenesque voluptuousness is the visual comparative with Peter Lehmann reds, however, in the case of the 1999 Shiraz, the Peter Lehmann flavours are evident, but the palate has been put on a 'diet'.Very deep crimson mauve colour. Excellent nose with aroma of spice, plum, liquorice and blackberry. The palate weight is going to disappoint some and please others, and frankly a little loss of body does the style no harm and is more than compensated for by the length and persistence of flavour. Flavours of liquorice, blackpepper, plum and tar are enhanced by some earthy back palate flavours and fine grained tannins. Excellent balance, with long blackpepper, blackberry spice aftertaste. Cellar 4-5 years.
