1999 Kracher TBA No. 6 Grande Cuvee Nouvelle Vague
Hailing from the shores of Lake Neusiedl in Austria, the third-generation Kracher family produces here high-quality sweet wines, making the most of the surrounding microclimate, particularly favourable to the development of botrytis. The pinnacle of their production falls under the Kracher Collection, created in 1995 to showcase wines made with different grape varieties and sweetness levels at different stages of botrytis development.

The amber-colored 1999 Trockenbeerenauslese No 6 Grande Cuvée Nouvelle Vague (Library Release 2024) is deep, refined and very intense on the nevertheless finessed nose that tends almost toward red wine or Colheita in its toasty and darker-toned fruit aromas that are reminiscent of potted cherries and plums as well as iodine, syrup and chestnut honey. Rich and elegant on the palate, with cedarwood and graphite (pencil tip) notes, this is a highly refined and elegant, very saline, vital and salivating TBA with oatmeal notes on the finish. This is a superb 25-year-old TBA. 10.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2024. Drink: 2025 - 2075.

Stephan Reinhardt – Wine Advocate (Jun 2024)
If you’ve never tasted a mature dessert wine, then you must try this to find out how incredible these wines can be. Great nose of peat and gunpowder underlined by notes of molasses and candied orange slices. Concentrated and rich, but elegant and beautifully balanced on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Very long, subtle finish. Drink or hold.
