1999 Cru Lagaillarde

An outstanding wine. Opaque, black crimson colour. Superb toasted oak nose with overtones of dark chocolate, black cherries and blackcurrant. Mouthfilling palate, excellent ripe blackcurrant liquorice flavours, with hints of vanilla. The palate has depth and length, and just goes to show what can be achieved from a well-managed vineyard, even outside the major Bordeaux Appellations. Fine grained tannins, perfect balance, followed by a very long aftertaste of confectionary, blackcurrant, vanilla, chocolate and spice.
