Twenty six years in an oloroso cask has bestowed this single grain with the aura of a high-end single malt. Thick legs down the sides of the glass and deep, savoury aromas of chocolate, coffee grounds and toasted cereals come dappled with dried fruits, further breathing drawing out traditional notes of Bounty Bar, chocolate coated peanuts and vanilla. The robust and fully mature grain character develops in an off-dry, slow-burn delivery of bourbon-soaked vanillas, sticky date and distant rum-like fruitiness countered by grippy tannins and nutty dark chocolate. If this was a single malt you'd be paying a premium for the kind of poise and grunt here. Demonstrates what can be achieved with humble grain whisky when well-managed sherry input is applied. 142 bottles at 56.5% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... Fully matured in its original Oloroso cask for all of its 26 years, this old single grain whisky has been rescued from blended whisky obscurity and bottled by us right at its peak. This is our charity bottling this year where all profit from the bottles will go to our charity partner Big Hearts Community Trust who are based out of Tynecastle Park, conveniently next door to the North British distillery. Tasting revealed - sticky raisins, new leather and sour cherry.
