1998 Henschke Keyneton Estate Shiraz Cabernet Malbec

A very distinctive style which has been made from a blend of 65% Shiraz, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec. The wine was matured in new and seasoned American and French oak hogshead for 15 months. Medium body, crimson mauve colour. The nose displays considerable complexity, with notes of blackberry, truffle, earth, leather and farmyard, producing a distinct Rhone like ‘animal’ quality. The complexity of the nose extends into the palate which displays a very spicy back palate over distinct spice and blackpepper flavours. Fine grained tannins, excellent balance, followed by long aftertaste of leather, earth and blackpepper. Cellar 3-4 years.
