1998 Hamilton Centurion 100 Year Old Vines Shiraz

Made from dry grown vines, planted in 1892.Opaque black crimson center, old fashioned nose, with aromas of McLaren Vale that resemble the wines of the 1970's more than those of the 21st century. Earthy, leather, "cowshed" and mint aroma, with probably too much "cowshed" to be classified Rhone like, but one thing is for sure - it's a wine with "attitude". On the palate the 1970's style of wine making re emerges, again dominated by the "cowshed" character, followed by earth and mint. Fine grained, dry tannins, followed by long and (over bearing by this stage) aftertaste of "cowshed", earth and mint. Cellar 5-8 years.
