1997 Lake's Folly Cabernets

Made from a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Shiraz, 10% Petit Verdot and 7% Merlot. The wine was hand made using traditional open fermentation and aged in French oak barriques, of which one third were new.

Lakes Folly Tasting notes: Lovely colour, excellent berry fruit, chewy tannins, and long lingering finish.

James Haliday's tasting notes: Medium to full red-purple; the bouquet is chock-full of cassis/berry fruit supported by perfectly handled oak. The palate is as beautifully constructed as any young wine can be; cassis berry fruit, fine-grained tannins, great length and again impeccably-handled oak. The best Folly for years, perhaps ever.
