Coming Soon - 1990 Claxton's Dalswinton Series Bunnahabhain 33 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
The second oldest whisky in the new Dalswinton nest-egg is matured in oloroso sherry casks. Located some distance from its Islay counterparts, Bunnahabhain is known for producing an unpeated but distinctively full-bodied whisky. Decanted at 33 years, this edition will have developed a degree of delicacy while retaining the distillate's hallmark complexity and character. For the glass collectors, the etching on the decanter depicts the Roman Fort which once stood on the banks of the river Nith. In 80AD, a large Roman Fort was built on the banks of the river Nith within the boundaries of what is now the Dalswinton Estate. It's understood to have housed over 2000 Roman infantry and cavalry and to be one of the most northerly Roman outposts of its kind. 48.6% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... A really good malt again, though probably not as old-school as the two others. The wood spice comes out more, making this more robust and wintery. I’m sure this makes more sense if you’re a cigar lover. - whiskynotes.be
...Quite a attractive single malt from Bunnahabhain. The balance between cask and spirit is on point. The sherry is present. Undeniable. But it’s there in moderation, not to be the star of the show. - wordsofwhisky.com/
Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Sweet tobacco smoke. Marzipan with sweet spices. Apple pie. Palate: Sweet and soft sherry with a mild smoke, oak and spice. Full bodied and robust. Finish: Cinnamon, oak and soft sherry. Long aftertaste of fruit pie.
