1974 Cognac de Collection Jean Grosperrin Grande Champagne Cognac (700ml)

Jean Grosperrin initially worked as a Cognac broker, evaluating eaux-de-vie and introducing buyers. He now has a collection of atypical and rare Cognacs including this robust, 36 year old high ABV vintage bottling from Grande Champagne.

Tasting note: Bright amber. A mild tingle accompanies the opening scents of almond, raisin and dried fig; the accent shifts to cedar wood and vanilla on later inspections. Peppery and mildly prickly. More compelling on the second taste where the gently bittersweet flavours of almond and baked pear emerge from the assertive alcohol, trailing off into a warm peppery aftertaste and a dried fruit / vanilla fade. 53.8% Alc./vol.
