Since 2014, the Orphan Barrel Whiskey Co. has released an eclectic selection of "lost but now rescued barrels" including a Kentucky Bourbon, Tennessee Whiskey, Canadian Whisky and American Whisky. Now, they’re expanding to the UK with a 26 year old single malt Scotch whisky from the defunct Pittyvaich distillery. Open from 1974 to 1993 and built by Arthur Bell & Sons, Pittyvaich was one of the youngest Scottish distilleries in operation at the time. The name is derived from Pictish, and refers to a land holding or farmstead. The prefix is common, particularly in the Eastern counties which were the former home of the Picts. The distillery stood near the Dufftown Distillery in Dufftown. Originally built to provide malt whisky for blends, Pittyvaich finally released an official bottling in 1991 under the Flora & Fauna label. Orphan Barrel have followed up with this extended age once-off release, older than the lifespan of the distillery.

Notes from Orphan Barrel... “Aromas of fruit and freshly cut, crisp red apple give way to a gentle vanilla creaminess sheltering dense, but distant orange peel for a mellow, warming taste with a hint of wood spices and a sweet finish.” 48% Alc./Vol. .
