Fleurieu Distillery We'll Always Have Paris Cask Strength Single Malt Australian Whisky (700ml)

Originating from the same distillation run as the 2018 Gold Medal release 'Bogart and Bacall', this is another cracking release from Gareth and Angela Andrews at Fleurieu. Also peated and matured in a single Apera (sherry) barrel, but bottled one year older. Very limited stocks from an outurn of 160 bottles.

Tasting note: Perfect polished brass. The nose wins on all accounts: compelling weight combines oily malt, cocoa and distant smoke with gentle coastal freshness. Three to four minutes adds a stewed fruit edge... wine soaked pears(?) An enormous malt with waves of sweet smoke, cocoa and vanilla meeting in harmony on the tongue; Peat takes charge with late honeycomb rebounding in the aftertaste. Shades of Springbank and Ben Nevis come to mind. Probably more so the latter given the sheer weight and concentration. A sensational whisky that puts Fleurieu in the leading pack of Australian producers. 61.5% Alc./Vol.
