2001 Springbank Vintage Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Campbeltown, SCOTLAND
$140. 00
Bottle
$1680.00 Dozen
ABV: 55.3%

Bottled at eight years of age. As a point of difference to regular Springbank bottlings, maturation took place in smaller than average oak casks, which have contributed to the deeper colour and more mature flavour profile. No colouring added. Non chill filtered.

Tasting note: Dull pale straw colour with pale straw hue. The nose of this whisky reminds one of boiled confectionary, in particular one which will be familiar to many Australians - 'Castlemaine Rock'. Some readers will have memories of breaking their teeth on this stuff as kids. There’s a syrup like character to the nose that then yields aromas of peppermint chocolate followed by a touch of honeycombe. The palate entry is plush with peppermint, cocoa and gentle smoke augmented by a spicy, warming and slightly tingly mouthfeel. Excellent balance. Long, sweet finish with a subtle honeycombe / menthol aftertaste. A worthy follow up to the outstanding 1998 release, if only for being so deliciously different! 55.3%Alc/.Vol.
