1998 Berry's Own Selection Laphroaig 11 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

An independent bottling from London's oldest wine merchant, Berry Brothers and Rudd.

Tasting note: Pale straw/gold colour. Subdued at first revealing nuances of sweet earth and boot polish. The aromas gather intensity and definition with aeration as the oily, lanolin-like peat fuses with liquorice strap, vanilla cream and cocoa. A light entry quickly intensifies, becoming mildly prickly. Mid palate is off dry and a little hot, though a burst of toffee apple momentarily relieves the heat, followed by fresher notes of pine needle and lavender. Aftertaste is spicy, dry and long. Concludes with vanilla, polished leather and lanolin. A drop or two of water betters the overall balance. Bottled 2010. 58.7% Alc./Vol.
