Why these grand old wines have not disappeared from the market place years ago remains a mystery. The Yalumba Museum Releases are national treasures that have re emerged from the cellars of Yalumba at Angaston in South Australia. The grape variety for this wine is Tokay, sometimes known as Muscadelle, and is grown in the warmer sub regions of the Barossa Valley. The base wine is in excess of 40 years old. This blend has an average age of 12 years. The wine displays a deep caramel colour with green olive edges. Aroma of prune and honey over a background of marmalade and spice. Sweet, luscious palate, with concentrated flavours of honey, raisin and marmalade over a rancio background. Clean finish, followed by very long aftertaste of brandy, prune and caramel. A rare experience. (375ml bottle).
