Milagro, which means ‘miracle’ in Spanish, was founded in 1997 by two Mexican entrepreneurs who successfully built the brand in their native country and the USA (the two largest Tequila markets). Famed whisky producer, William Grant & Sons has recently acquired a 51% stake in the company.

Agaves are harvested about 8 to 12 years after planting, and the juice is extracted from the heart of the plant by roasting in clay ovens made from the estate’s volcanic soil. The fermented juice is triple distilled in small batches. This Reposado is aged for six months in oak barrels - four months longer than most Reposados on the market.

Tasting note: Almost neutral with only a very pale straw hue. The bouquet builds from an initially reclusive state to reveal scents of black pepper and brine over green capsicum and some smokey herbaceous notes, followed by a touch of dill. Light to medium bodied, like the blanco expression, this is soft and silky but lacks presence and depth. A some what flat delivery offers mild green, herbaceous flavours following into a medium dry finish. Fades away with an aftertaste of moderate length, as a touch of vanilla pretty much smothers everything. Good mixing reposado. 40% Alc./Vol.
