Duke’s Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling has quickly built up a cult following on the back of a multitude of high scoring vintages from James Halliday including 99 points for the 2017 vintage.

Duke’s continue their rise to prominence as one of Australia’s greatest Riesling producers.

Brilliant water like colour with a subtle tinge of green around the edges. Pronounced lime juice and green apple scents meld into citrusy orange like notes followed by wet steel, light chalky talc and minerals. Intensely flavoured and boasting tremendous power yet tighter and showing more steeliness than the Single Vineyard release, lime and citrus characters seemingly sail on forever across the palate. Subtle nuances of crunchy granny smith apple, talc, wet slate and steely mineral elements ensue. Dry racy finish with crisp, lip smacking acidity giving the wine great focus. Concludes with its exceptionally long trademark aftertaste.
Drink now or cellar 8-10 years.
Alc. 12.5%

Other Reviews....
Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, minimal SO2. 1yo riesling doesn't come more powerful or intense than this brilliant Porongurup example, with glorious lime/lemon fruit and a whipcord of acidity giving the backbone for a long, oh so long, life.
Drink by 2053.
