As Clare Valley’s oldest winery, Sevenhill has a plentiful supply of old vine resources it can draw on. Their entry level Inigo Shiraz utilises fruit sourced from the Brother Lenz dry grown block (planted in 1973-1974) and the Brother Dan block (planted in 1973). These older vines combined with more recently planted blocks provide fruit of great depth and diversity. Maturation took place in a mixture of new French oak barrels (15%) and older French and American oak.
Pitch black heart with a very deep dark red black hue. Elevated black cherry and liquorice allsorts aromas mix with hints of spearmint, vanillin cedar, fennel and light pepper. Rich and juicy the palate is flooded with succulent black cherry and liquorice flavours which have a delicate spearmint overlay. Lightly toasted vanillin cedar, scorched earth, fennel and pepper elements are also present. Good fresh acidity with polished yet sturdy tannins. Excellent depth, concluding long.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
