G.D. Vajra was established in 1972 and named after Aldo Vaira's father, Giuseppe Domenico Vajra. A traditionalist, Aldo adheres to old style winemaking methods, though blends these with new techniques, such as temperature-controlled fermentation, to produce supremely elegant wines.

Sourced from the Estates younger vines in Barolo, Novello, Sinio and Bricco Bertone, vinification is long and extremely gentle in order to retain lift and tension in this wine. Ageing is mostly carried out in stainless steel vats.

A brilliant example of young, fresh Nebbiolo.

Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a bright red hue. A delightful bouquet of rose petals, ripe red cherries and raspberries fills the nostrils trailed by some scorched earth, faint tar and spicy fresh herb notes. Delicious spicy red cherry and raspberry fruits have a juicy feel with elements of scorched earth and infusions of fresh herbs sitting underneath. Finishes dry with vibrant fresh acidity and slightly grippy tannins. Plenty of depth and vibrancy with a long moreish aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
