The Oliver family have been growing grapes in McLaren Vale since the 1840s. Their descendants arrived from Scotland and settled in the McLaren Vale district, raising sheep and cattle as well as establishing an orchard and vineyard. Today, the emphasis still remains on growing super premium quality grapes for other winemakers (around 85% of their production is sold to the likes of Penfolds, d’Arenberg, Wirra Wirra etc) whilst a small portion of the best fruit is retained for sale under their own Oliver's Taranga label.

Dark, rich and powerful with a plush voluptuous feel.

Made from vines aged between 7 and 70 years old the 2017 vintage saw great spring rains result in a bumper crop with a long slow ripening period producing intensely flavoured Shiraz grapes.

Pitch black core with a deep dark red black hue. Alluring ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark chocolate aromas float over a back drop of vanillin oak, mocha and spice. Dark, rich and powerful, fleshy blackberry, dark plum and liquorice flavours create a voluptuous textural feel with elements of dark chocolate, vanillin cedar and spice the undercard. Silky smooth tannins. Finishes with good freshness and a long lush blackberry, dark plum, liquorice, dark chocolate and spicy vanillin oak conclusion.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
