Established in 1845, Ippolito is Calabria's oldest winery and is located in Cirò, one of southern Italy's most ancient wine zones. Their 100 hectares are planted with indigenous grapes and farmed organically.
A blend of 70% Gaglioppo and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon matured in French oak Barriques for 12 months. Gaglioppo is an ancient native grape variety of Calabria, and the most widely planted in the region. The I Mori is a slightly contemporary expression with the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, achieving a balance between a rustic and international style of Calabrian wine.

Very deep dark red black tinged colour with a dark red hue. Drifting out of the glass are lifted blackcurrant, dark and morello cherry aromas followed by vanilla, dried herb, tobacco and earth notes. Rich morello cherry and blackcurrant fruits fill the medium weighted palate underscored by notions of new leather, dried herbs, vanilla and earthy tobacco characters. Rustic tannins firm up the finish, the aftertaste long and chewy.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
