Semi translucent dark red colour with tinges of black around the outskirts and a light red hue. Fragrant violet scents mix with red cherries, winter strawberries and earthy game like characters. Some trailing spicy cedar and fresh herb notes ensue. Silky in its feel the palate is decorated with spicy dark cherry and strawberry fruits which are underpinned by game, forest floor, cedar and subtle dried herb nuances. Well balanced acidity and velvety tannins lead into a long elegant finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Been a while since a DB wine hit my desk. Well, a brown paper bag in this case.
Generous, obvious pinot noir of concentration, dark cherry and pulpy berry fruit character, judicious twiggy-woody spices and a shround of light, fine but firming tannin. Feels deep and dark, brooding in a way, a little dried out through the finish and a touch of prune and date creeping in generally, but a lush, warming pinot of depth is here.
