Valle Secreto are a small producer with 36 Ha of low cropping vines (mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Carmenere) They’re committed to producing wines from varieties which “express their potential with the local climate and special characteristic of the soil they are in.” Not that the Chileans don’t believe some places are better than others to grow grapes. 'Alto Cachapoal' is located in the newly designated (although still voluntary) Andes geographic zone and is warmer and drier than the coastal regions, and has greater diurnal temperature variation than vineyards on the wide valley floor.

Matured for 12 months in French oak. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Elevated aromatics of black and red currant brush with distinct fresh tobacco notes over dried herbs and spicy cedar. Medium to full bodied the palate sees rich blackcurrant and blackberry flavours infused with tobacco characters overlay vanillin cedar, dried herbs and spice. Elegant, fleshy mouthfeel with fine grained, well integrated tannins. Concludes long with a blackcurrant, blackberry, tobacco, vanillin cedar and spicy dried herb aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years.
Alc. 14.5%
