2016 Bernard Baudry Les Granges Chinon

Made from Cabernet Franc, Bernard Baudry’s Les Granges comes mostly from the estate’s younger vines (15-20 plus years old) planted on the alluvial, gravel soils of the terraces by the river Vienne.

Excellent depth of colour displaying a black dark red heart with a bright purple hue. Very fragrant, nosing offers up a lifted bouquet of violets, red currants and dark cherries laced with perfumed fresh herb notes, some scorched earth and spice also evident in the background. Light to medium weight and possessing plenty of freshness, crunchy red fruits meld with light earth, fresh herb infusions and spice. Dry balanced finish with bright acidity and fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of crunchy red currants, scorched earth, a touch of spicy inkiness and fresh herbs.
