The Savaterre vineyard was established in 1996 by owner and winemaker Keppell Smith after an expansive search through Australia’s top wine regions to discover the magic terroir he was after. Great importance is placed on the use of indigenous yeasts in creating wines that are unique, intense, textural and complex. The wine is matured for 2 years in the best tight grain French oak barriques of which 50% are new.

One of Beechworth’s rising stars.

Brilliant straw colour with tinges of green around the edges and a watery hue. Intense aromas of ripe white peaches and citrus laced with dried honey and funky gun flint characters waft from the glass underpinned by cashew, biscuity oak and spice. Rich, concentrated flavours of white peaches, dried honey, flinty struck matchstick characters, cashew, biscuity oak, subtle toast and spice fill the mouth within a creamy textural feel. Outstanding length and richness concluding with a long spicy white peach, dried honey, gun flint infused, cashew and biscuity oak aftertaste. An Outstanding Beechworth Chardonnay, superbly concentrated and richly textured.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 13.4%
