The Kurtz family are fifth generation Barossans of German descent whose vineyard plantings date back to the 1930’s. Together with later plantings and acquisitions in the 1950’s and 1960’s winemaker Steve Kurtz has access to significant old vine fruit to craft his wines. For the 2015 Boundary Row Shiraz parcels of fruit were selected from low yielding vines varying in age from 20 to over 100 years and maturation took place in a combination of 90% seasoned and 10% new French oak for 24 months.

Lavishly rich with a muscular structure framing a powerful core of opulent fruit.

Outstanding colour saturation displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a deep dark red black hue. Heady aromas of liquorice, ripe blackberries and dark chocolate waft out of the glass followed by vanillin oak and hints of spicy mocha. Dense and loaded with copious amounts of rich black fruits, flavours of succulent blackberries, liquorice and dark plums soak every inch of the palate over toasty vanillin oak and hints of dark chocolate with a spicy finish. Bordering on voluptuous in its mouthfeel the lavish fruit is underpinned by ripe chewy tannins that give the wine some muscle. Fantastic power and depth concluding with a long ripe blackberry, liquorice, dark plum, lightly toasted vanillin oak and spicy pepper aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
