Totally opaque black dark red colour with a bright purple red hue. Perfumed aromatics of dark plum and liquorice laced with dried clove and faint hints of fennel are followed by subtlety smoked vanillin cedar and spiced meats. Medium bodied, elegant and very supplely textured the palate possesses flavours of dark plums, dark cherries and liquorice with a delicate clove overlay. Some smoky cedar, dried meats and spice are also evident. Velvet smooth tannins. Long savoury spicy dark plum, dark cherry, liquorice subtlety infused with clove, smoky vanillin cedar and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
From 8ha of shiraz planted in '73 on a westerly slope. Vivid crimson purple; counter-intuitively slightly deeper than '14 Carrodus. Spectacular intensity and power, yet the detail is so precise that you can smell and taste each tile in the mosaic of the wine: black cherry, licorice, spice, pepper, tannins, blackberry. Paradoxically, because it is due to this detail that the wine cries out for more time. Drink by 2044.
