Savagnin is a variety of white wine with green-skinned berries. It is mostly grown in the Jura region of France, where its use has become synonymous to produce a sherry like wine called Vin Jaune. In Australia it recently created headlines when it was mistakenly thought to be Albarino. Since then it has gained traction in it’s own right with producers using it to craft stylish crisp dry whites.

12% of this wine was aged in new French oak while the balance remained in stainless steel. Brilliant very pale straw colour with a bright greenish tinge around the outskirts and a watery hue. Aromas of pear and citrus are overlaid by hints of musk and quince like characters with mineral end notes. Light and refreshing but with a nicely rounded textural feel the palate features flavours of ripe pears, faint honeysuckle, quince and light mineral. Clean dry finish with crisp acidity. Aftertaste of pear, quince, subtle honeysuckle and mineral.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.
