2014 The Standish Shiraz

Spectacular inky black colour that’s completely impenetrable right to the rim with an equally deep dark purple black hue. Intoxicating aromas of liquorice, dark plum and black cherries fill the nostrils followed by some vanillin cedar, scorched earth, fennel and spicy dried herbs. Extravagantly rich and concentrated the palate has a robust, firmly built tannin structure with a core of lavish ripe blackberries, liquorice and black cherries coiled around it, overlaying some dark chocolate infusions, toasty vanillin oak, earth and spice. The pure opulence of the fruit tempered by the solid framework. Outstanding depth with a rich chewy mouthfeel. Finishes with a very long aftertaste of ripe blackberry, liquorice, dark plum, subtle dark chocolate, toasty vanillin cedar and spicy earth.
