Winemaker Peter Gambetta is somewhat of a Cabernet Sauvignon specialist, already well regarded for his brilliant efforts in Coonawarra, being responsible for the outstanding Yalumba Menzies and Yalumba Cigar Cabernets. He has also been working at forging a reputation in Australia’s other classic Cabernet producing region – Margaret River. The region once again experienced idyllic vintage conditions in 2013 with the resultant wine being matured in a mixture of 56% French oak and 44% American oak for a period of 15 months. 14% of the oak was new.

Has all the characteristics of great Margaret River Cabernet without the hefty price tag.

Opaque black colour with a purple crimson red hue. The nose shows good intensity with lifted blackcurrant and mulberry aromas intermeshed with black olive and cedary tobacco characters followed by faint bay leaf end notes. Medium weight the palate has Margaret River’s traits of elegance and refinement as well as good richness being generously flavoured with blackcurrant, mulberry, cedary tobacco infusions, black olive and spicy dried herbs. Very fine grained beautifully integrated tannins. Long savoury aftertaste of blackcurrant, mulberries, cedary tobacco characters, black olive and subtle bay leaf.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.5%
