2013 Petaluma Evans Vineyard Coonawarra Cabernet Merlot

A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 8% Shiraz matured in new French oak for 22 months. Excellent depth of colour displaying a midnight black dark red core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Nosing reveals ripe blackcurrant, black olive and liquorice aromas intertwined with toasty cedary tobacco characters and spice. Bold flavours of rich blackcurrant and black cherry fill the palate with traces of liquorice also present over subtle cigar box, black olive and spice. A robust tannin structure provides the framework. Long rich aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant, subtle black cherries, liquorice, cigar box and spicy black olives. A full bodied blend with a solid core of rich fruit held in place by a robust structure.
