A Rich, very Powerful Pinot

Deep dark red colour showing very good depth with a dark red hue. The nose is slightly riper and has a shade more intensity than the Merricks Block delivering a perfumed aromatic profile of dark plum and strawberry intermixed with anise and toasty oak followed by some dried meats and spice. The palate boasts magnificent richness, concentration and power with flavours of dark plums and ripe strawberries engulfing the mouth over some anise, light meatiness and spicy cedar. Outstanding depth with a velvet smooth tannin structure finishes with a very long conclusion of dark plum, ripe strawberry, subtle anise, some meatiness and spicy cedar.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 13.8%

Other Reviews...
Employs the heritage MV6 clone. It provides the excellent colour and the generous plum and cherry fruit that doesn't stray from the boundaries of 100% correct varietal expression. A prime example of having one's cake and eating it - but delay the latter for as long as possible, allowing the wine to come in full flower in 2-3 years. Drink by 2028.
