2013 Domaine Serene Evenstad Reserve Pinot Noir

Matured for 16 months in French oak of which 57% was new. Semi translucent dark red colour with black tinged edges and a dark crimson red hue. Perfumed scents of violets intermingle with perfectly ripened dark cherries and strawberries followed by traces of anise, sappy cedar notes and spice. Light to medium weight the palate has an elegant supple mouthfeel and an understated power that builds and builds. Dark cherry and strawberry flavours fill the mouth with trailing subtle anise infusions, spicy cedar and some meatiness. Very finely grained tannins, almost velvet like, with excellent freshness on the finish. Very long savoury aftertaste of dark cherries, plum, faint anise, some meatiness and spicy cedar.
