Other Reviews....
From 80-year-old vines and matured with around 35% whole-bunch fruit, the 2013 Gevrey Chambertin Vieilles Vignes has an attractive raspberry and dark cherry bouquet that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, quite supple tannins and commendable density, harmonious in the mouth with an elegant finish. For me, this works much better than the Clos Village ’13.

This displays plenty of Gevrey character with its overtly sauvage aromas of warm earth, plum and humus. There is an abundance of old vine sap present on the medium-bodied flavors that buffers the moderately firm tannic spine on the firm and mildly rustic finale. I like the overall depth and this should also be approachable young yet reward 6 to 9 years of cellaring too. Recommended.
