The Hahn family were amongst the original pioneers to the Barossa Valley, and began growing grapes in 1845. In 1997 The Hahn’s formed a partnership with renowned winemaker Rolf Binder to produce the JJ Hahn range of wines and showcase their legacy of grape growing from old vine Barossa vineyards held in the family for generations.

Crafted from the near perfect 2012 vintage this rich supplely textured Barossa Shiraz is full of the classic chocolate/mocha characters that Barossa is famous for.

Aged in a mixture of French and American hogsheads. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a very dark red hue. The nose possesses impressive intensity with aromas of dark plums, liquorice and blackberries blossoming from the glass followed by smoky vanillin oak and spicy mocha. Medium to full bodied, rich and velvety the palate boasts a mouthfilling flavour profile of dark plums, liquorice and dark chocolate over some toasty vanillin cedar, mocha and spice. It’s rich, plush and long without being over weight. Very polished, silky smooth tannins. Long aftertaste of dark plums, liquorice, mocha vanillin oak and spice.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc 14%

Other Reviews…..
Matured in American and French oak. Full crimson-purple; there is a juicy freshness at the heart of the wine, the flavours of the medium-bodied palate more or less equally divided between red and black fruits; silky tannins and fully integrated oak provide a confident finish.
