Many will be aware that the 2011 season across South Eastern Australia was one of the wettest and coolest for well over a decade and a complete write off for large number of vignerons. However, one should never prejudge a vintage until one has tasted the wines. At this stage, it looks like there will at least be some solid whites on offer.

The conditions proved challenging at Tellurian, but the intensive canopy management in the vineyard provided suitable ventilation, and the cooler temperatures enabled slow ripening and good flavour development. This w This wine was fermented and matured in both stainless steel tank and seasoned oak barriques with striring on yeast lees also taking place in order to build texture and complexity. Brilliant pale straw colour with a light tinge of green around the edges and watery hue. The nose displays aromas of light honeysuckle, pear, cinnamon and spice. Excellent mouthfeel with flavours of ripe pear, honeysuckle and spice with some dried nut characters on the back palate. Clean dry finish. Aftertaste of honeysuckle, spice and dried nut.
