Named after a set of medieval wooden leg stocks which stand in the town of Woodstock in Oxfordshire, England, 'The Stocks' Shiraz is Woodstock's flagship wine. This single vineyard Shiraz is made from 31 rows of low yielding vines, planted circa 1900 on a sandy north slope of Woodstock Estate. Maturation took place in a combination of French and American oak for 18 months.

The winemaking team of Scott Collett and Ben Glaetzer have fashioned a richly textured, powerful McLaren Vale Shiraz that will delight lovers of big reds.

Impenetrable inky black purple colour with deep purple black hue. The nose oozes aromas of liquorice, blackberry and dark plum over a background of toasty vanillin oak, confectionary and spice. Possessing copious weight, voluptuous flavours swamp the palate delivering a decadent mouthful of ripe blackberry, dark plum and chocolate bullets which overlay some toasty vanillin oak and spice. Velvet smooth tannin structure. Outstanding depth with very long and persistent aftertaste of ripe blackberry, liquorice, dark chocolate, toasty vanillin oak and spice.
