Named after founder Heather Jean Watson this Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from the original Woodlands plantings on our south-facing slope. These four small plots receive the greatest number of sunlight hours at Woodlands, but the east-west orientation of the vines ensures a slow fruit maturation. These plots are almost always picked last.
Produced from a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc with maturation taking place in new French oak for 21 months. Opaque black crimson red colour with dark crimson red hue. The nose exhibits both perfumed intensity and refinement with a complex array of violets and blackcurrant intermixed with ripe mulberry and bay leaf which overlay some tobacco cigar box like characters, cedar, faint earth and spice. Medium weight the palate possesses rich blackcurrant and mulberry flavours which merge beautifully into the wines elegant textural qualities. Underlying cedary tobacco like characters, subtle earth and spice follow. Very fine grained, structured, yet perfectly integrated tannins. Outstanding length with very long blackcurrant, mulberry, tobacco, cedar and spicy earth aftertaste. A Superb Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc 13.5%
